Bologna

Yesterday we returned from a trip to Bologna and Florence. This is the first time I organized such a trip using the airbnb platform and I am very, very pleased with the places we chose and the program we planned, there'll be definitely more such trips in the future. In Bologna we slept in a medieval building right in the center of the town and the feeling, especially compared to the average hotels we've used before, was unique. A few pictures from our sightseeing tour:

: Piazza Majore

: San Petronio church

: Le due torri - Asinelli & Garisenda

: Neptune Fountain

: Portici - the town is famous for its covered arches

: Piazza San Domenico

: The inner court of our building

: View from Asinelli tower

: I absolutely adore the small gardens on Italian balconies

: Palazzo della Mercanzia

: The shrine Arca di San Domenico with sculptures by Michelangelo and others, within which are buried the remains of Saint Dominic

: The Archiginnasio - the old building of University of Bologna, founded in 1088

: Teatro Anatomico - the hall for medicine lectures and autopsies

: The library, containing century old volumes by prominent scholars

: Along the streets of Bologna

: In the Seven Churches complex

: In Margherita Gardens

  1. What a lovely place; I love the history of its architecture. How neat to stay in a medieval building.
